How we work

The five lines, and what “hand-holding” actually means here.

Each line has its own page, because the detail differs line by line. This page is the one place that explains the thinking behind all five: why any of this needs somebody from outside, what we do in each case, and what hand-holding means when nobody is selling you a retainer.

Why any of this needs somebody from outside

It is not that the work is difficult. It is that most companies do each of these once every few years, and the person judging it does it every day.

You do it once

You cannot get good at a thing you only do once

A grant application, a first certification file, a first system bought to a specification — each is a one-off. The mistakes are not obvious until the answer comes back a month later, and by then the work has usually already been paid for.

The judge is outside

Somebody else decides, and they have seen it a thousand times

An officer at the agency, an assessor, a client's procurement team, a tender panel. They are not interested in effort. They are looking for one thing missing, and a single missing line can fail the whole file.

The order matters

Done in the wrong order, it is worth nothing

The clearest example is the grant: apply before the work starts or a deposit is paid, or the spend is retrospective and not supported. No amount of paperwork fixes the order of two dates. Most of the value of a consultant is knowing the order before you spend.

The five lines, and what each one changes in your week

Each has its own page, because the detail matters and it differs line by line.

1 · Grant applications

The grant pays you back, after you have paid

EDGE pays up to 50% for an SME, capped at S$100,000 a company a year, with at most S$30,000 inside it for digital systems. On a S$20,000 project that is up to S$10,000 back — but only if the application went in before the work started.

2 · Training and AI courses

Training somebody actually has to pass

Traditional courses for the requirements that are checked, and AI training built around the three tasks in a person's week that change — not a certificate on a wall. Records kept in the format the checker asks for, first time.

3 · AI software

One place that holds the record

When a process lives in WhatsApp, an Excel sheet and one person's memory, the same fact gets typed three times and is wrong once. We build the smallest system that holds it once, run it beside the old way for two weeks, then switch.

4 · Security systems

A specification before the quotes

Three quotes for three different scopes cannot be compared, so the cheapest wins and the gap is found later. We write what the site must prove first — who was there, when, and what happened — then you buy once against it.

5 · SACE consultancy

The twice-yearly file that has to survive an assessor

Security agencies carry a training obligation twice a year across all three areas — six course runs, not two. One component missing fails the competency. We build the file in the assessor's own wording, with the attendance records it asks for.

Not sure which

Ask, and we will tell you — including “none of these”

One question, answered privately, no pitch attached. If the honest answer is that you do not need any of the five, that is the answer you will get.

Ask a question

What “hand-holding” actually means here

Not a retainer, not a portal you have to learn, and not a report you have to interpret.

1. Twenty minutes, free, and we say what we see

Where you stand, what you are trying to reach, and whether one of the five lines is even the right answer. No documents needed for this, and nothing to prepare.

2. A written plan with dates before any money moves

The order of the steps, who does each one, and what it costs — in writing, before you commit. For a grant, that plan exists to protect one thing: that the application is filed before the first invoice.

3. We do the parts that get judged, you do the parts only you can

We write the wording, structure the file, build the system, keep the records in the format the checker asks for. You sign, pay, approve and decide. Nobody acts as you.

4. Twenty minutes a week, with the same person

Not a ticket queue. One person who knows your file, on a call you can move, and nothing is sent, filed or submitted that you have not read first.

5. Every login stays yours

Accounts are in your company's name and the passwords stay with you. We work in the accounts you give us access to, and we hand back the file at the end whether or not you carry on with us.
